Beliefs

Section l. The Scriptures

We believe that the sixty-six (66) books of the Holy Bible are inspired of God and infallible in the 1611 KJV. We accept the authority of the Bible as the true center of Christian union and the standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried, (11 Tim. 3:16, 11 Pet. 1: 19-21)

Section 2. God

We believe that there is one and only one living and true God. He is an infinite and perfect Spirit: the source, support, and end of all things. He is inexpressibly glorious and holy, and demands all possible confidence, honor, and love. Within the unity of the Godhead there are three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; they are equal in every divine perfection, yet execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of redemption. (Deut. 6:4; I Pet. 1:2,3)

Section 3. Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, not an influence or symbol, and that He is equal to the Father and the Son, and of the same nature. He restrains evil, convicts men of sin, judgment, and righteousness. He is the Agent in the new birth, the Illuminator as well as the Author of the Word of God, and the Seal of Salvation. He empowers, guides, teaches, and sanctifies the believer. on. 14:16, 17; Eph. 4:30; Jn. 16:8)

Section 4. Satan

We believe Satan is a real person. He is the god of this age, and the leader of a host of demons who oppose and hinder the work of God in the world. His doom is sure; he shall be cast into the lake of fire, where smoke of his torment shall arise forever. (Eph. 6: 11,12; Rev. 20: 10)

Section 5. Creation

We accept the Genesis account of creation and believe that man is the immediate creation of God; we reject all hypotheses of organic evolution. (Gen. 1,2)

Section 6. Fall of Man

We believe that man was created innocent and with a holy disposition but fell from this state by voluntary transgression. The consequence of this fall is that all mankind are now sinners not only by constraint, but by choice, and are under the just condemnation of God without defense or excuse. (Gen. 2:3,4; Rom. 5:12, 19)

Section 7. Christ and the Virgin Birth

We believe Jesus Christ is a unique person; He is the God-man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of Mary, a virgin. He is both the Son of God and God the Son. (Isa. 1135)

Section 8. The Atonement

We believe that the death of Christ on the cross is the atonement for our sin, the only hope of salvation, and the only shelter from the wrath of God. We believe that God designed the atonement to make salvation possible for all men, and that the Holy Spirit, being the Agent in the new birth, makes the atonement efficient for the elect. Christ took our nature, but without sin, and vicariously paid the penalty for our sins, satisfying the justice of God. (1 Pet. 2:24; Mat. 5:7; Heb. 10:12, 7:25)

Section 9. New Birth

We believe that no man can see or enter Heaven without being born again. The new birth is the instantaneous act of the Holy Spirit whereby He implants within us the principle of the new life, and makes the governing disposition of the soul holy. We believe that all a sinner must do to be born again is to come to Jesus. The evidence of the new birth is faith and a changed life. (Jn. 1:11-13; 3:3, 7; II Cor. 5:7)

Section 10. Justification

We believe that, by the Imputation of Christ’s righteousness to us, and the imputation of our sins to Christ, God justifies us. Because of our union with Christ, God declares us righteous and restored to favor, and no longer under the penalty of the law. God does not make us righteous but declares us to be so; this standing is not based on works, it comes by faith alone. (Titus 3: 5-8; Rom. 3:25, 26)

Section 11. Repentance and Faith

We believe that faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation, and that to confess Him ag Lord is to be saved. (Acts 16:31; Rom. 10:9, 10)

Section 12. The Local Church

We believe that the Local Church is a congregation of baptized believers, united by covenant of faith for the purpose of carrying out the great commission (Mat. 28:19, 20) and keeping the ordinances of Christ. The Officers of the Church are Pastor and Deacons. The Local Church is autonomous, self-supporting, and self-propagating under Christ. (Acts 2:41, 42; Col. 1:18)

Section 13. Ordinances

We believe that the Local Church has two symbolical ordinances which were given in the Gospels, practiced by the Church in Acts, and taught in the Epistles: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, as well as the death to sin and the new life of the believer. It is a public recognition of the Lordship of Christ Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the death of Christi it symbolizes by the elements, the broken body and the shed blood of our Lord. Both ordinances are a testimony of the truths of the Gospel. (Rom. 6:3,4; 1 Cor. 11:23-28)

Section 14. Security of the Believer

We believe that all true believers are sealed by the Spirit of God; with that sealing they are marked as eternally His, unable to ever completely fall away and be lost. All true believers will be preserved by God’s grace and persevere in the faith and finally be glorified at His coming. (Jn. 10:27-30; Phil. 3:20, 21; Heb. 5:9, Eph. 1:4, 7, 13)

Section 15. The Righteous and the Wicked

We believe that only those who are justified by faith in the Lord Jesus can be called righteous; those who persist in unbelief are the wicked. The righteous enjoy everlasting blessedness in Heaven; the wicked will experience everlasting conscious suffering in Hell. (Ps. 1:6; Jn. 3:36)

Section 16. Civil Government

We believe that Civil Government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of all, and that leaders are to be prayed for and conscientiously honored and obeyed, except in things opposed to the will of God. (Rom. 13: 1-7; Acts 5: 29)

Section 17. Resurrection. Return of Christ. and Related Events

We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of Christ. (Lk. 24:39; Acts 1:11)
We believe that since His ascension, Christ has been at the right hand of God as our interceding mediator. (I Tim. 2:5; Heb. 7:25)
We believe that our Lord’s Second Coming is imminent, and that at the rapture the righteous dead shall live again and the living saints shall be changed so that together, they shall be caught up to be with the Lord forever. (I Thess. 4:13-18; Mat. 24:42)
We believe in the following:

  1. The Bodily Resurrection. (Mat. 28:6-7; Mk. 16:6; Lk. 24:2-6, 39; Jn. 20:27; 1 Cor. 15:4)
  2. Ascension. (Mk. 16:19; Lk. 24:51; Acts 1:9-11; Heb. 12:2; Rev. 3:21)
  3. High Priesthood. (1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 2:17; 8:6; 5:9, 10; 1 Jn. 2:1)
  4. The Second Coming. (Jn. 14:3; Acts 1:11; I Thess. 4:16; Heb. 9:28; Jas. 5:8)
  5. The Resurrection of the Righteous Dead. (I Cor. 15:42-44; I Thess. 4:13-18)
  6. The Change of the Living in Christ. (I Cor. 15:51-53; Phil. 3:20, 21; 1 Thess. 4:13-18)
  7. The Throne of David. (Isa. 11:4; Lk. 1:32; Acts 2:29,30)
  8. The Millennial Reign. (Isa. 11:4; 32:1; Ps. 72:8; 1 Cor. 15:25; Rev. 20:6, 14)
  9. The Pre-Tribulation Rapture. (I Thess. 4:13-18)
